Kayla Howerton joined the Ph.D. program in the summer of 2021. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Audiology and Speech Language Sciences from the University of Northern Colorado, and she completed her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She has spent time working as an Intraoperative Monitor and an Audiologist for the U.S. Army before returning for her Ph.D.

She works with Dr. Inyong Choi in the Human Auditory Neuroscience Group lab and her interests include traumatic brain injury, executive function, and central neural deficits in auditory processing.

Outside of academics, she enjoys rock climbing, traveling, and playing with her two large dogs.
