Laura Schmitt, MS, CCC-SLP
Clinical focus
Laura specializes in the evaluation and treatment of language and cognitive-communication impairments secondary to stroke, traumatic brain injury, or progressive neurological diseases such as Parkinson's disease or primary progressive aphasia, supporting the SLP clinical degree program. Her clinical team delivers comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to target various aspects of communication, including spoken language, understanding, reading, and writing as well as cognitive impairments which may affect communication such as attention, memory, and executive dysfunction. Additionally, Laura facilitates the Modalities Aphasia Group - Improving Communication (MAGIC) and Aphasia Reading Club (ARC) support groups for individuals with aphasia.
