Emily Hartman, a senior majoring in Speech and Hearing Science, was named a UIowa Student Employee of the Year, winning top honors in the Science, Health, & Engineering Category.
Emily was nominated by Philip Combiths, CSD Assistant Professor and Director of the Clinical Linguistics and Disparities Lab, who supervises Emily in her role as lab manager.
"Emily has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, maturity, and deft inclusivity that far surpasses my expectations of an undergraduate student," Combiths said. "She single-handedly coordinates a team of more than thirty students across multiple large research projects, including launching and maintaining a community-engaged research collaboration with the Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County."
More than 8,700 students employees were employed on Iowa's campus in 2023, which speaks to the significant honor awarded to Emily.
Bravo!
