Occupational Audiologist & Hearing Conservation Specialist

Laura Kauth is a dedicated occupational audiologist based in the Quad Cities, IA, with over two decades of experience in hearing conservation as an aspect of workplace safety and health.  Ms. Kauth serves as a professional supervisor for corporate and industrial hearing conservation programs, assisting with regulatory compliance, training and supervising audiometric technicians, and implementing effective worker protection.

Professional Leadership & Background

Throughout her career, Ms. Kauth has been an active leader within the national hearing conservation community. Her notable leadership contributions include:

• National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA): Served as Director of Communications, Presidential Trio (2011-2014), and Director of Education (2021-2024).
• Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC): Has served on various projects, including the Webinars planning team.

Education & Training Expertise

A passionate educator, Ms. Kauth holds undergraduate degrees in biology and psychology, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Audiology and is a certified Course Director and Professional Supervisor through the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC). Since 2001, she has directed and instructed comprehensive onsite and hybrid CAOHC certification courses in Iowa and the Midwest. Working independently and in conjunction with institutions like the University of Iowa College of Nursing and Heartland Center for Occupational Health & Safety, and the Iowa-Illinois Safety Council, she has trained hundreds of Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationists (COHCs) in the multi-disciplinary field of hearing conservation, and provided continuing support to former students.

Ms. Kauth remains an ongoing regional resource, committed to reducing and preventing hearing damage and associated health issues, in occupational settings and in day-to-day life.
