Jane Shange, M.A.

Biography

Jane is a PhD student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa. She is a member of the Clinical Linguistics and Disparities (CLD) Lab; her primary mentor is Philip Combiths. Her research interests are in developmental language disorders, morphosyntax development, assessment, and intervention among multilingual school-age individuals. 

Prior to joining the CSD, she earned an MA in Education with an emphasis on multilingualism from the University of Iowa and a BA in Education with a focus in second language acquisition from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Jane has worked as a second-language teacher, teaching both children and adults. Her experience in an educational context shapes her interdisciplinary approach to studying multilingual language development, assessment, and intervention.
