Ahyeon Choi is a postdoctoral research scholar in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa. She works with her mentor, Inyong Choi, in the Human Auditory Neuroscience Lab. Her research focuses on understanding the neural mechanisms of auditory and music perception, with particular interests in how individual listening experience and hearing status shape the way people perceive complex sounds.

Her work combines behavioral experiments, EEG, and computational approaches to studying auditory perception. She is particularly interested in music perception, auditory scene analysis, and perception in individuals with hearing loss and cochlear implants.

Before joining the University of Iowa, Ahyeon earned her PhD in Music Perception and Cognition from Seoul National University, where she conducted her doctoral research in the Music and Audio Research Group (MARG), examining the perceptual and neural mechanisms underlying musical auditory illusions. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Musicology and Piano from Seoul National University.
