kelby telander as a child and now as Hawkeye football player
Kelby Telander was a featured Listen and Speak Up program participant in a 2005 Press-Citizen article (left). A current photo shows him talking to this summer's group of kids who stutter or have hearing loss about his unique experience as a collegiate football player who wears cochlear implants.

Kelby Telander, a former 2-year-old participant in CSD's Listen and Speak Up (LSU) summer program, hasn't let his hearing loss curtail his ambitions as a successful college student and member of the Iowa Hawkeyes football squad.

During this year's program, participants got an insiders' tour of Kinnick Stadium and listened to Kelby, as he offered encouragement and advice to the UISPEAKS attendees, all of whom have hearing loss or stutter.
