UISPEAKS child participant and grad student buddies

Exciting news about our long-running summer program, UISPEAKS: It has been renamed UI SHINE (University of Iowa Summer Program for Youth Who Stutter Or AreDeaf/Hard of Hearing in an Inclusive, Nurturing Environment) to better reflect our philosophies and goals.

This 3-1/2 day summer program was created for children and teens ages 7–17 who stutter or Deaf/hard of hearing. Participants engage in a number of activities to develop confidence and self advocacy using individual and group speech therapy sessions.

Collaboration with school-based and / or private speech-language pathologists is available and encouraged.
