Cochlear Implants
In our training clinic, our audiologists and grad student clinicians provide follow-up care after you receive your cochlear implant system (CIs). In order for you to experience optimal benefit from your CIs, aural rehabilitation after implantation is strongly encouraged. Through individual and group services, we are here to help you to achieve success with your CIs. In these virtual times, telehealth appointments are available.
If you think you are a candidate for a cochlear implant evaluation, contact the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Cochlear Implant Clinic.
When you are ready to begin services with us (typically a month or so following implantation surgery), please use the information on a postcard that will be given to you by staff in Otolaryngology. The postcard contains contact information and driving instructions to the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic.
In addition to Clinic appointments, we encourage our CI clients to connect with us and with one another through support groups. More information about support groups can be read in the Outreach and Engagement section of our website.
