Biography

Dr. Kate Gfeller is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Iowa, holding appointments in, the school of music, Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery, and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is the Russell B. and Florence D. Day Chair of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Dr. Gfeller’s research focuses on the perception of and affective response to music, particularly in individuals with disabilities. She is also a member of the Iowa Cochlear Implant Team at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Her work has significantly advanced the understanding of music therapy and auditory rehabilitation.
