Thushani joined the Ph.D. program at the University of Iowa in the fall of 2023. She completed her BSc (Hons) in Speech and Hearing Sciences specializing in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Thushani worked for several years as an SLP in Sri Lanka before before joining the UIOWA Ph.D. program. She also worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of Public Health, University of Kelaniya. Currently, Thushani works in the Speech Perception and Kinematics (SPeaK) Lab where she studies articulatory motor performance in neurodegenerative diseases.

Apart from academics, she enjoys cooking foods from different countries and going for road trips.
