Thushani joined the Ph.D. program at the University of Iowa in the fall of 2023. She completed her BSc (Hons) in Speech and Hearing Sciences specializing in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Before joining the Ph.D. program, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of Public Health, University of Kelaniya. Thushani works with Dr. Mili Kuruvilla-Dugdale in the Speech Perception and Kinematics (SPeaK) Lab where she studies articulatory motor performance in neurodegenerative diseases.

Apart from academics, she enjoys cooking foods from different countries and going for road trips.
