By blending clinical care, teaching, and community involvement, Laura Schmitt is creating impactful learning opportunities for speech-language pathology students while supporting patients with communication challenges.

Through the new CSD Ambassador Program, current speech and hearing science students are helping future Hawkeyes feel at home before they even arrive on campus. The program fosters authentic connections, offers valuable mentorship, and gives ambassadors the opportunity to strengthen their communication and leadership skills.
